Ebay ITEM# 270093723227 http: //cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270093723227 The backing has already been removed. Fold this in half widthwise and it would make a perfect period obi for someone.

Oh I think you can come up with something spiffy to do with it.

Kumagaya-hime, you were not paying attention to the beginning of this thread. No green tea gelato for you! (It exists. I've had it.) It's an obi (originally 6" wide) that's going to be remade into a period obi (2 1/2 - 3" wide). Periodically, jinken brocade hanhaba obi turn up on eBay - they're worn as part of dance costumes. I picked one up last year, took it apart and made myself a lovely period obi out of the green side. You can sort of see it here: www.wodefordhall.com/linen4a.jpg(I hesitate to use the white side - even with big gold and silver flowers - for SCA wear.)

My apologies, Saionji-hime,
I was merely responding to your comment about not doing pink. I am sure you will find that that color looks absolutely fantastic with one or more of your Kimonos.

I was merely responding to your comment about not doing pink. Which I misread! Gomen nasai, Hime. I'm curious to see what the color is like for real....

Well, the picture you posted makes the color look like Magenta... not a true pink, but a deeper and richer color. Is that Gold in the pattern? Let me know what it looks like when it arrives..

it might be neat for an ensamble using "fobidden" colors... if the crown granted permission...
maybe in a pine tree kanase?
babbling...

Maybe in a pine tree kanase? babbling... Confused, perhaps? The pine kasane does not have forbidden colors (murasaki or kurenai) in it. Go here and look for "Matsu-gasane" to see. www.sengokudaimyo.com/garb/garb.ch14.htmlI guess it would go with the yellow kosode....

drat.. I wasn't clear.. I meant as two possible options... (well three if you count green base and burgundy base pine tree as two separate variations...)
joys of doing ten hour days and trying to write sensically after...

Trust me, Hime, if I wore it with a Heian kasane, you wouldn't see it. It's turned out to be more at the fuschia part of the spectrum. Should go fine with these: www.wodefordhall.com/dg001small.jpg
