Anybody else see Ommyouji? The story's okay, but it's really worth watching for all the excellent Heian garb - d**n, that looks good. Not the usual NHK low-budget stuff - this looks HEAVY - sometimes it seems the layers are inches deep, on the men even. I watched them (I & II) again, because I found out the DVDs had English subtitles. (Yes, that means I watched them both without being able to understand the dialogue very well. And yes, just for the garb. ) If you want to see the way it was worn, and be embarrassed to wear anything substandard, this is good. Definite garb-porn. Yamamori/ Corrius.

Yes! I went to a bugaku concert about two weeks ago and the musicians were dressed in Heian clothing so I can say that the stuff in "Onmyoji" definitely looks right!
Besides, Sanada-san gives such good villain.

There are currently six or seven "Onmyoji" books out in Japan by author Yumemakura Baku. They're all collections of short stories about Seimei and Hiromasa. (In addition, there is a pile of other books on similar themes by other authors jumping on the bandwagon.)
I'm currently translating the first book, and I hope to be able to find a market here for it.

I think you have a decent shot, judging from the way that the manga sections are proliferating in mainstream chain bookstores.
Good luck! Makiwara
