0795 | K | 06/07/91 | CALONTIR....| Akitsuki Yoshimitsu He is already in the list, although I know very little more about him. Can you provide some facts about his SCA activities? I have a slight acquaintship with Akitsuki-dono. He resides in the Barony of Coeur d'Ennui (Des Moines) and was formerly Baron there (mid to late 1990's? He had recently stepped down when we moved there in 1998). He is also a companion of the order of the Laurel, for his work in Japanese studies (I think?). He has organized specialty tournaments for the Lilies war, and helped our group with some ideas for a katana tourney that we held at our event last year. Akitsuki-dono is highly regarded here in Calontir. --Ki no Torahime

Master Chen has changed his name to reflect his baldric. It's now Chen Tzu. Just an FYI about my local Master. Thorbjorn Johannson, Norse Trader who might travel the Silk Road to the Not-As-Near East Baile na Scolairi, Midrealm, Middle Kingdom

Otagir dono! Greetings from Solveig! An amusing story. Alas! I have a hard time restraining myself: ...King Tadashi had a beautiful castle; built in the finest Japanese tradition. It was a twelve story Pagoda with thick outer walls, many sentry posts and straw roofs. The pagoda is a descendant of Indian stupah architecture and is really a gigantic reliquary. They show up at Buddhist temples, and many famous temples originally had a pair of the things. I forgot to mention that normally pagodas have an odd number of floors. I know of examples with 1, 3, 5, &c. Your Humble Servant Solveig Throndardottir Amateur Scholar

Frodo = the man. At an event two weeks ago, I got to see a katana duel between him and Sir Yoshi (not sure of Sir Yoshi's full name). It was straight out of jidai-geki. Five seconds of stillness, almost simultaneous strikes by both men, and a half second later, Sir Yoshi had fallen. Beautiful. True samurai, those two.
