Treachery on the Tokaido
October 29, 2005
Did you make Japanese garb for last Twelfth Night? Are you wondering
when you will ever get to wear it again? The Barony of Bright Hills
invites you to dust off your kimono and katana as we join the
conflict between the Europeans and Japanese for control of the
Japanese trade.
Martial Activities: Heavy weapons scenarios are being coordinated by
Baron Temur of the Kerait (temur@adelphia.net). Rapier will be run
by Lord Stephen Bridewell (stephenbridewell@yahoo.com). It will
consist of three melee scenarios (ship, town, & field) between the
Japanese and the Portugese. Victory or defeat in the preceding
scenario will determine advantage or disadvantage in subsequent
rounds. Target archery will be run by Lady Reyne Telarius
(reyne_telarius@hotmail.com). Archers will defend the trade caravans
from brigands along the Tokaido road. Their Excellencies will be
choosing Baronial Heavy, Rapier, and Archery champions.
A&S Activities: Come participate in the serenity of Japan with a
traditional tea ceremony. Advance registration with Taira no Akiyo
Shichi-i (akiyo@runbox.com) is appreciated so that we can have the
appropriate amount of materials, a note on your reservation will
suffice. There will also be a variety of sponsored competitions
including: "Games and Toys of the Silk Road," a Garb competition,
items made from silk, and origami made from materials other than
paper. Their Excellencies will also be choosing Their Baronial A&S
