Born in Yokosuka City, Japan, Shoko KAZAMA has always been fascinated by her natural surroundings and wisdom of Zen teachings. Shoko KAZAMA studied calligraphy and soon the symphony of brushes, Japanese paper and Chinese ink became her passion. The works of Shoko KAZAMA capture the vast realm of real or abstract universe, or somewhere in between as depicted by her works, Kaze (wind) and Na.mu.a.mi.da.butsu (a Sanskrit prayer chant). Shoko KAZAMA enjoys teaching to young Buddhist priests as well as other adults. She is the distinguished official calligrapher of the renowned Zen sect, the Kencho Ji sect, with its high temple in Kamakura, Japan. 8th Hakone Annual "Matsuri" Festival Sunday, May 20, 2007 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM A fun filled Japanese Cultural Event with Japanese food, tea, music, dancing, art and prizes. Maybe it won't rain this year.
