Don't you just love how Otagiri totally has the Japanese silhouette down? I'm going to miss the alarm-kusazuri that let me know when he was walking through my neighborhood. Teasing about noisy armor and Komodo kosode aside, Our Most Honorable Moderator has good taste when it comes to soft kit too. If I had two good knees and could run faster than he can I would've raided his wardrobe. The green-and-white higaki (braided fence motif) kosode and the salmony one with darker orange lines in particular, and the horizontal-striped hakama.....

New kabuto! Finally got to see it. And you may be of "middling distinction," but Sir Geoffrey Scott spoke well of you.

Honda-Dono, love the videos.
Your rig looks great....
Last time I saw Big Damn John he was my left shieldman in the wall...he and I (with seven-foot naginata) and another shield man were the end unit tasked to deal with skirmishers trying to flank.
It was fine until he decided to wander towards the centre of the line, right across my strike plane just as a knight, a squire and two pole armsmen decided to attempt to roll up our left wing.
He strolled off, I died (honourably but horribly) and the wing was well and truly rolled up.
;D
His comment was 'hey, I'm more of a skirmisher than a wall guy.' This was Barony of Ruantallan Warcamp (Nova Scotia) July 1
That being said he's a professional brewer who makes a mean wheat ale.
Thanks for posting the vids.

.
Head's up Qara-hime, there's a whole page on the "monk walk!" saito.htmps.org/monkwalk.htm I know at least two of them: Kuji-dono is in the checkered robes and Takeda Akimasa-dono is next to him on the right in the dark kataginu and hakama.

Ahh, the infamous Tetsubo. Yes, the weapon that makes your friends go: "We're glad you're on our side.. WE don't want to get hit with that thing!!!" I have one of those monsters... although his is MUCH better than mine. hehehe

I just made one, because I am used to being able to hit with omni-directional weapons rather than one-sided blades like my tachi - but having a great big lumpy club just seems to fit better, somehow. I'll post pictures when I can.

With mine, my fighting group discovered something really nifty about it. I could trap a sword in between the knobs and hold it there. Guess what? the sword can't slide up or down while the big club can go down the sword and STILL bonk the guy on da helmet.

Actually I oopsed and and didn't realize that this thread had gone three pages and was responding to Mr. Cunningham's video post. But heck I would love to see video or pictures of anyone on the board fighting if they have them...
I might even start a new thread for it.

That sure is me! God only knows what I'm doing in that shot. Lost boys was some ugly fighting this year, at least where I was. Lots of thuggery, and perhaps not enough restraint on both sides.
Except for the Unbelts battle, that was the last time I wore that helmet which, just an hour before that photo was taken, won me the "Ugliest Helm" prize at Tarl's Little Polearm Tourney. Quick change of helm and arms and the next day I got a personal favor from Countess Jolicia in the Novice Tourney for my high standard of appearance. Irony is a lovely thing.

Couple of fun memories: Being given the tabard for the Unbelted Champions team before the battle: (pardon the woad) That would be HRM of the East Gryffith Fitzwilliam on the left. And about to enter the Warriors of History Tourney/Melee:
