Am headed to Toronto for a family function....flying visit, alas, but will be doing some shopping and hope to check out this at the Royal Ontario Museum:
Prince Takamado Gallery of Japan Our permanent galleries hold the largest collection of Japanese art in Canada. Prince Takamado Gallery of Japan also showcases the ROM's outstanding collection of Japanese ceramics, religious sculpture, tea ceremony objects, prints, paintings, lacquers and armour.
Anyone seen it before? Worth the trip?
Also, will be trolling through Chinatown but wondered if anyone has suggested shopping spots in Toronto for more Japanese things rather than Chinese/modern Asian-esque doodads. I know there's a tabi store and a geta store somewhere there.

I live in Lockport, NY, USA which is not terribly far from Toronto... There is much good fabric to be had in the "Chinatown" district (and Bao...and DimSum!")

Noble Cousin!
Greetings from Solveig! Depending upon the day, I am within range. The ROM is worth seeing. However, the last time I was there, they had misidentified a few items in their Japanese collection. So, go there, enjoy your visit, but do not expect 100% accuracy in the descriptive labels.
