I would if I could, but since circumstances are not permitting (no job currently/1200 miles one way to San Antonio/no Japanese clothing/no samurai armor/no weapons/not authorized yet), I will be with you in spirit and I will raise a toast to your impending victory the night before. I'll even drive the 20 miles (one way) to get good sake to toast with. How does that sound to you? - Rich

Ursae-Lyons was very, very cool. It was a lot more intense than I was expecting, and I hit a heat-related wall after the third "day" (a set of bouts lasting +/- 45 minutes or so). I packed it in early, and avoided feeling miserable for the rest of the weekend. I think after some more conditioning and time, I should be able to make it all the way through - I'm still relatively new, and overheating has always kicked my @ss. Other than that, I had a great time, and did acceptably well in the combat, all things considered. I'm all fired up about fighter practice now... I'll be a lot more aggressive about getting into the thick of things instead of being a "wallflower". I also got some great shots with a disposable camera. For those interested, I have created a Flickr account, and uploaded photos from Ursae-Lyons. I have also uploaded some decent images of my completed harness, with appropriate garb and fiddly bits. It's finally done, I think. www.flickr.com/photos/15625703@N07/You'll have to paste in the URL, since its a Flickr account. Here's one we call "Significant Samurai", which is apparently local slang for when SCAdians strike this pose in a fight. Pretty funny, but it shows off the armor pretty well, since the lighting is good.

So how did you and Gojira fare in the crest battle? - Rich I started to overheat after "Day 3", and decided that enough was enough. The Mace Tourney was sadly the last event, and I was already on my way home.

Ah man, then no Terrible Lizard pictures. I was looking forward to that.
