Checking in from my sister's house in Annapolis. I prevailed on her to accompany me into DC today to the Sackler and Freer Galleries on the Mall. www.asia.si.edu/exhibitions/current/Price/intro.htmis the link to the STUNNINGLY gorgeous exhibition of Edo period art from the Price Collection. The show will be moving on to the Los Angeles County Museum in 2008. I had to own the exhibition catalogue. HAD TO. There was also a beautiful show of art connected with classical Chinese literature. The Freer and Sackler Galleries are in Washington DC on the Mall near the Smithsonian Castle. Admission is FREE. If you are in DC, be sure to check out their permanent collections of Asian art and any special exhibitions they happen to have running.

What? You were out here and didn't even say anything? Seriously, that is an awesome museum. When I had more time I used to go down and make use of its library--the catalog is online and they have a wonderful collection of Asian related works, including books and magazines in the original language. It's one of the things I'm going to really miss, even though I don't make use of it as much as I should these days. -Ii

What? You were out here and didn't even say anything? I knew my family was going to want to monopolize me and I only had a few days for that....
