I am so envious of that gate. Of course, I'm also totally envious of Saionji-dono's beautiful tent. Looks like it was a most excellent event.

Humble thanks to Saionji-hime for the sando gasa. Humble thanks back for that heartfelt embrace. I was deeply touched. Yay! We look forward to seeing you again. It has not been my honor to meet Sato-dono, but Tanaka is the man who got me into the SCA and yes, he is a blast to hang out with.

Re: " The hat looks awfully familiar. Is that Sakurai-dono under there? "
That's lil ole me, marching into great court with my new friends in the Calontir army...I was even getting most of the words as we sang.
(Pity the dobuku I made ended up looking like a happi!)
Re: "also please notice the black ribbon on the left arm for our grateful lord who lost his life on the field that we fought on for the same kingdom....may his soul rest happily ."
When we heard the news, the Calontiri muster also paused for a moment in his honour. A sad loss. On a personal note, I can say that for myself, I'd think there are worse ways to go when your number is called than on the field with your friends doing something you love. I echo Sadamitsu-dono's thoughts .... may his soul rest happily .

Having gotten to hear what you actually sound like, the regionalisms just do NOT go together.

Well it has been a week since I have returned home and I still haven't found the opportunity to post the few pictures that I took at the event. But I really need to take the opportunity to thank everyone that camped in the Rising Sun encampment, you changed what would have been a frustrating war into an enjoyable event! When I get the chance I am going to list a day by day account on my live journal ( http://www.purplepenguin.livejournal.com), but for now I just wanted everyone involved, weather you camped with us or just visited, that I really appreciate everything that you did to make this so successful, and I can't wait to see all of the improvements that we are going to have next year!

Right back at you, tomodachi, especially since without you, we would not have had so much infrastructure-wise. Ladies and gentlemen, ALL of the sunshades, the kitchen tent, firepit, all but one of the tables, fences/walls and gate were courtesy of Yagyu-dono and Hatshepsut-hime.
Amid winter rains And muddy battlefields We met in friendship. Fellowship forged by the fire, Amity writ in sunrise.
