So it's sunday and i just got home from Estrella war. If ya wasnt there then ya missed a hell of a good time!!
Yagyu went above and beyond on the hospitallity and the encampment. Ita was truly amazing. I had more fun inside our encampment then a did outside of it. My hats off to Yagyu for all of his effort and dedication to his fellow Nihonjin!
I am horrible with names.... That being said it was also wonderful to meet and spend a bit of time with Matt, Darrel, Kathy and all of that crew from The West.
Otagiri, i finally got to spend some time just hanging out and chatting it up with. Another truly amazing soul! I look forward to more campfire tales and mischief makeing with Otagiri.
Saionji!!!! O MY GARSH!!!! notorious i tell you! Got to spend more time with Saionji this year also and i am a better human being because of it. Where life is the rough sandpaper that scrapes and tears at the fabric of a persons being, Saionji is the ointment that soothes and heals you. Thats right folks, she aint just pretty face, she really does know her stuff! =)
Thru all the rain and the mud and muck hardly did the sun show its face. But in the camp of The Rising Sun never did I go without it thanx to those who camped with me.
Sincerely Tatsuyama Hideyoshi
When i grow up i wanna be like BENKEI!

Where life is the rough sandpaper that scrapes and tears at the fabric of a persons being, Saionji is the ointment that soothes and heals you. All I did was give you that extra tube of Blistex and see what happens.... While it's extremely nice to be clean (as in no longer smelling like wet wool, three day old wood smoke and my own stink), dry and warm, Rising Sun was THE bright spot of the muddy, ass end of the Harfleur-do. With my tent pitched next to the stunning front gate, designed and built by Yagyu-dono, I heard LOTS of positive comments by passers by. Before I collapse for the night, I want to thank everyone for their participation and support. In no particular order, Yagyu-dono (land steward, gate builder and griller of meats), Hatshepsut-hime (High Priestess of Pyromania and Chocolate), Yoshi-dono (dark brooding presence who does not mind hauling loads and running errands), Clan Katayama, Mitsuhide-dono (AKA Reoga, pourer of sake and brand-y spankin' new squire effective Saturday evening), Otagiri-dono ("Tea Water's Up!") who fortuitously ended up camped right across the road from us, and Ujimoto-dono, Sakurai-dono, Yukiko-hime, Li (Great Hero of China, Now Get Off My Lawn!) and his lovely Lady Wu of the blingy hair ornaments, for hanging out and having fun with us. We took an idea and made it real. You guys rock. (P.S. I should have pics up some time tomorrow evening after work.)

Before I collapse for the night, I want to thank everyone for their participation and support. Yeah... Yeah... What she said.... It was absolutely wonderful meeting everybody this last weekend. To the survivors of Estrella War XXIV I say to you: Domo arigatou gozaimasu. Not only for making an otherwise unpleasant event enjoyable, but for making Rising Sun THE place to be. I hope to see some or all of you in the near future, whether it's at Potrero, Great Western War or where have you. Good fortune to all until we meet again. Katayama no how did I get mud THERE?!?

Katayama no how did I get mud THERE?!? Same way the rest of us did, tomodachi. Especially our Most Honorable Moderator, who I saw tearing down camp, barefoot and mud to the knees on Sunday morning.

Katayama no how did I get mud THERE?!? Consider yourself fortunate that you did not attend Cat Box I & II in Bouse, AZ. This was the interim event between Burrito Creek and Estrella back in the early 1980's. Nearly 30 years later I am still finding sand...

Consider yourself fortunate that you did not attend Cat Box I & II in Bouse, AZ. This was the interim event between Burrito Creek and Estrella back in the early 1980's. Nearly 30 years later I am still finding sand... I recall with great fondness standing on a sand berm with a borrowed spear defending the wall against shieldman struggling up the incline while I rained death from above to those unfortunates below.

I recall with great fondness standing on a sand berm with a borrowed spear defending the wall against shieldman struggling up the incline while I rained death from above to those unfortunates below. During the fighting the first year, I watched a brave, yet foolish person charge from the top of the berm. The spearman at the bottom of the berm stumbled backward and unintentionally planted his spear. The charging pawn took the spear in the clavicle and was vaulted about 20 feet to the far side of the front line. The galavanting corsair was air-lifted to a regional hospital...

Made it home to the east coast with a few delays and had great fun getting back to work Am still reeling from the whole Estrella trip. I was simply not prepared for the sensory overload. Humble thanks to Saionji-hime for the sando gasa. Kudos to Yagyu-dono for one of the best looking camps on site. Glad to have met Yoshi-dono briefly at camp and Li on the battle field, and to at least have seen Otagiri-dono from afar on the field plus many other bushi. Humble apologies for not making more time to visit Rising Sun....between accompanying my knight on his rounds, fighting with the Calontiri army and recovering from a mashed ankle on the last day of battle, there simply wasn't enough time on my hands. I will rectify it next year.....my lady has already given her blessing to my return for Estrella XXV Sakurai Takamori P.S. I did get a chance to spend time with Sir Sato of Calontir and Sir Tanaka of the East and his Squire. Great fun.
