Thank you Solveig, tis a handy page. Reminds me of a something that happened when I was younger. My mother was big into Macrobiotic cooking, one of the things she would make was miso soup, however she made it without dashi, just water and various seasonsings, (usualy nori). We had company over and sat down for a lunch of soup and millet... after a painful few moments eating our guest smiled, and gave up trying to eat the very odd tasting soup, with the comment: "I'm sorry but this soup tastes like it washed up on the beach" I said the only thing I could think of: "It did." -Takeda

Ahh, the Noble Nori in it's natural habitat....
I must confess that I love those seaweed jerky snacks. They taste like something that caught on fire, fell off of the cattle boat, and washed up on shore.
