Just a note for the Nihonjin of Carolingia and its environs. The Museum of Fine Arts just opened an exhibit showing the influence of Heian culture on Ukiyo-e block prints[1]. It's a teeny exhibit (just one little room hiding behind some Buddhist sculptures) but an absolute delight if you're familiar with the literature alluded to (they have prints about Genji, 100 Poems, etc.). For those in other parts of the Knowne World, the exhibit also noted that the museum has the largest collection of block prints outside of Japan and is making great strides to digitize them, especially prints that are too delicate to be on display, which, while post-period, may be of interest.
