help on nodowa

Hello all,
I am currently making a nodowa using information from

Its only for display on a shelf. What width was common for the odoshi? many photos I find look like they are 1/4". I will be also making my own odoshi lacing.

I was inspired to make one by this photo



Where would I get the brass work?

hello all,
I have a new question, I know I need to put a lip on the throat plate. Do I also need to put a lip on the other plates as well?

The decorative brass bits are usualy a lot of work a short discription as well as the raised edge informaiton can be found hear

The segment on plates and rims are about half way down.

Another option would be to start with brass furnature bits and rework them into the Kanamono plates.

Its hard to tell but it looks like a host of metal working processes are involved. A copy of "The Compleat Metal Smith" may help and should be available though interlibrary loan.

If the brass plates are to big you might resize the image and use that as your pattern.

Hello all,

after much delay, I am almost ready to start the odoshi. Do I use 1/4" or 3/8"?
(the plates are made except for the odoshi holes need to know what size to use)
