"Tomoe Gozen (late 12th Century) One of the best known female warriors of the 12th century and favored concubine of Minamoto no Yoshinaka. Tomoe Gozen fought alonside her male counterparts in the Gempei War"
Shizuka Gozen, mistress to Minamoto no Yoshitsune, is noted as a "Hero of the Gempei war" but it is not listed as how.
