I just send in a class proposal for taiko, requesting class periods late in the day on Friday and Saturday.
If anyone wants to geek about clothing at war, let me know and I can bring some books along.
Anyone else coming? If so, should the House of Cheerful Monkeys offer sake on Friday or Saturday evening of war?

Looks like the sake party will be Saturday as my camp mates are having another do on Friday.
Now then, I am contemplating a shopping run into San Francisco next week. If any one attending GWW has any requests (within reason, folks!), please send me a message and I'll see if I can make it happen.

Home safe, clean, fed, but only partially unloaded due to inauspicious street parking, so I'll have to do the rest after work tomorrow. GWW was great fun. Hope to do it again next year.

As teleportation is not my Sooper Sekrit Mutant Power, it won't be until Estrella. Thursday evening is traditionally "New Year's" at Estrella for we who are of the Asian Persuasion. Kami willing and the creek don't rise, there will be many cups shared again. For our other list members, GWW is a nice little war to attend if you have the inclination to travel to it. The site is about 20 miles or so from Bakersfield, CA, which puts it about 4 hours south of San Francisco, or 2 hours north of LA. The current site is on the shore of Lake Webb at the Buena Vista Recreation Center, which is really lovely, particularly at dawn or sunset. www.flickr.com/photos/70104978@N00/sets/72157625013476805/www.co.kern.ca.us/parks/buena-vista.asp

That is an awful lot of fun!
I feel a little sad being stuck up in Washington away from all the other cool people who make awesome old Japanese things. I may just snap one day and decide to do something silly like road trip to Estrella. Hilariously, that takes me very near San Francisco and through Los Angeles along the way. Do you drive that way? Is a caravan possible? Is this crazy? I don't think it's any crazier than my idea of running Pennsic into Gencon after a massive cross-country road trip, but then again I can be pretty bonkers.

It's definitely possible, just a lot of driving for you. I live across the bay from San Francisco and it's 13 hours to Estrella for me.

Ishida-dono we have alot of our black company members fly into phoenix where we pick them up and have tents and food ready for them. as was done for my lady and I at great western. we fly Southwest airlines where you are allowed 2 50lb check luggages and 2 small carry ons. my armor weighs a perfect 49 lbs and my garb was 45. You can take your luggage to a local UPS or fed ex to have them weighed. the average cost is around $240.00 round trip but if you buy in advance long enough you can get $59.00 flights . I know several people from washington and idaho who make the pilgrimage evey year so i could inquire if they have room or would help you caravan. if all else fails and you cant find a group to house you ( i doubt that will be a problem with all the great people here) Let us know we can set a tent for you at the black company camp if you dont mind camping with a bunch of dirty mercs like myself. we are really mean and nasty we eat with our fingers and kidnap unwary travellors and make them eat and drink.

Let us know we can set a tent for you at the black company camp if you dont mind camping with a bunch of dirty mercs like myself. I cannot speak to the conditions of Lash-dono's compatriots, but someone must have thrown him in the lake, 'cause he cleaned up just fine. And had decent table manners, even. For a ronin. I'm going to be seeing Yagyu-dono and his lady in a couple weeks, so watch the forum for announcements on Estrella planning with respect to the Rising Sun camp as well. I'm sure between us all, we can come up with a way for you to join us. FYI, Estrella has a fairly good food court in the merchant area, so that's an option for your meals. Rising Sun usually has a decent camp kitchen set-up: depending on who's with us and how involved things get, we at least have hot water for tea and oatmeal in the morning and may take turns doing some sort of evening meal. Nights can be very cold, so you'll want warm bedding (I invested in a zero degree sleeping bag) and clothing. Wet weather is also a possibility, but as you're from An Tir, I have no doubt you know how to cope with that.

You are both so generous! Thank you for your kind offers. I'll have to see where I am with regard to armor at the end of the year before I make this decision, but I'm pretty excited about these possibilities.
