Kodansha International, which has been been distributing English-language books about Japan and Japanese culture, as well as a number of dictionaries and language aids (since 1963) will be shutting its doors as of April 2011 search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nb20110305a1.html

They opened a branch called Kodansha USA a couple of years ago. So far, the main emphasis there is to take over the English-language publications of Kodansha's extensive manga properties, which so far have been licensed out to other companies.
As yet, there has been no indications as to whether Kodansha USA will be picking up Kodansha International's properties, either in part or in whole.
If they don't, there still should be a period of a couple of years while the old publications should be fairly easy to find on the new or used market, but so this is just as a heads-up.
Once more information comes up regarding this, I'll post again. So far, Kodansha USA's website is bare bones and only refers to their manga properties.
I'm sure some of the Kodansha International line will make it over to Kodansha USA, particularly the dictionaries, but as yet, there is no indication what books will make the cut.
