On my way from Inuyama castle back to the Inuyama train station, I stumbled on a small storefront that sold handmade Japanese stoneware. There was a sale on a bin of small dishes at three for 1000Y, so I grabbed some stuff. I already had the tray and two rightmost dishes, but the rest is new. I'm hoping that this will be enough different compartments that I don't have to have different food items on one plate at the next feast I go to.

The little round one with the white chevrons is quite pretty! Nice acquisition. I admit I'm a bit spoiled by my proximity to the Daiso 100 yen store down in Union City for tableware and kitchen items.

Awesome. For those without local resources, some of the 100% melamine stuff from this vendor (in whom I have no personal interest) www.asianideas.com/meta.html looks much better in person than it has any right to, and is quite affordable and durable. Nice stuff actually from Japan is still vastly more awesome, though. I think you're going to be very happy you took the time to look. Personally, I find that the little souvenirs that cost little but see much use wind up being the most cherished. Every time you dine on this gear at some event you will be reminded how FREAKING INCREDIBLY JEALOUS most of us here are about your entire trip.

My other souvenirs are a pair of sageo that actually match both my swords and each other, which I acquired at a random tiny corner sword shop that I literally stumbled into: New sageo! by tomlapille, on Flickr Sageo applied to swrods by tomlapille, on Flickr They're a little bit blingier than what I had before, but sixteenth century samurai seem like they were all about bling. I agree with you about little useful souvenirs. I look forward to using both the feast kit and my newly-adorned swords.
