I sent His Excellency (as he's now Count Mark) the link to this thread and informed him what an inspiration he is on this list. Not to mention a good teacher. I'm never going to armor up, but I watched all of these.
He just messaged me back to thank me for passing on the pat on the back. ;D

Bumping this topic. In the interval between the original post and now, I have taken up heavy rapier. I just acquired a rapier katana at this year's Great Western War and am starting at square one with it. Fortunately for me, His Royal Highness* and Don* Kevin of Windymeads co-taught on German longsword at last week's West Kingdom Meet'n'Beat and I was able to participate. A katana isn't as long as a Feder and it only has one edge, so there were a couple of things I had to do slightly differently from the rest of the class, but if *I* could close and hit someone with a katana at my level of inexperience, that's saying something! If you ever get the opportunity to work with either Marc or Kevin, jump at it. If not, there's at least Youtube.
*Marc just won October Crown and will be stepping up as King of the West with his lovely Patricia at Twelfth Night. Kevin has been offered well deserved admittance into the Order of Defense.
