I cant stress enough how this book is a must for those into Japanese wood working. I can't stress enough how this book is a demon sent from the underworld to destroy the minds of those who are into Japanese woodworking.

I can't stress enough how this book is a demon sent from the underworld to destroy the minds of those who are into Japanese woodworking. I had to laugh, one of my friends who is into woodworking said something similar. She's obsessed now and cant wrap her head around some of the complex designs and details. I suspect she's going to curse my name later for having introduced her to it.

Greetings all, Long time no post. I have this book www.amazon.com/Complete-Japanese-Joinery-Hideo-Sato/dp/0881791210I concider it a much better book since it actually shows how to cut the various basic joints along with each step for each cut. The book also goes into how each joint is used, i.e. function, and has a section on the joints used to build a house. There are, of course, more complex joints shown in the book, but it does not go into how to cut them. I used it to cut the joinery for my tent. I hope this helps. Rokurou

I only have to cut three more of these. That's 4by4 cypress, and it's the first step for turning four 5.5 foot long sections into two 10 foot tall vertical posts. Sigh.
