One of the things I'm having real difficulties with in my research is finding art to look at. I've been trying to hunt up art from the Kamakura period, because (as far as I know, from what I've been reading), there are no extant kosode from the period. And I'm also interested in looking at day-to-day life -- just sort of what life was like, what kind of objects were in use, what people were doing -- things like that.
It's been hard to find examples, or at least, hard to find them all in one place. I suspect that I was spoiled when I was considering a super-late-period Italian persona; I lucked into an illustrated edition of Castelvetro's The Fruit, Herbs, and Vegetables in Italy that is *loaded* with period paintings of ordinary people at the marketplace!
Any idea where I can find something like this, or perhaps multiple somethings that would have bearing? I would be most appreciative.

Do searches on "emaki." Picture scrolls are a great source for depictions of people of various stations. I did a web article on them awhile back (do let me know if any of the links are bad!) that may give you some places to look. wodefordhall.com/emaki.htm
