Cool.
This type of armor looks great on tall thin people. I made a suit like this for a friend who fit those proportions and honestly I can't think of a better type of armor for his body style.
Is this for costume or combat? If you are going to be fighting in it one suggestion I have is to flare the bottom out a little above where you are going to lace the Kusazuri, this will make it sit more comfortably on your hips. That is something we missed when we made his armor and had to do later so I figured I'd mention it.

No fighting, just a costume to wear to ren festivals and/or display around my house. Though I do plan on making it tough enough to fight in. I need to rework the back plate and add the shoulders, it apparently needs to be a good bit shorter than what I thought.

I revised the back plate, and added a few things. Need to tackle the kusazuri next. It fits quite nicely, and as soon as I get a few extra dollars I can just pull the whole thing apart and put the patterns down on steel.

I put on a thick jacket (which totally didn't fit under my arms) to get a feel of how it fits when I'm wearing proper undergarments: Well, after an extensive bit of reading, it seems I need to remake my watagami. I've collected a mass of pictures and I can see what I need to fix. Also, during that reading I was trying to figure out what I want to do for kusazuri, and I stumbled upon this image on effingham's website: I can tell that it is a sendai do and has just 4 leather suspended european 4 in 1 chain mail kusazuri. I tried extensively to find further information on this suit, but I could not find anything else at all. Does anyone know anything about it? What time period is it from? Is it just a one of a kind idea that I should avoid? If I'm going for accuracy, would that type of kusazuri be acceptable? Any information would be great as I am quite intrigued.

Soooo.. I'm probably going to look silly doing this, but I can't find how to make a new post on proboards yet, so I'll go ahead and post what I wanted to here. Recently I've been working on an okegawa dou from the "new" pattern. so far, so good. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.378980095523300.93262.100002339386305&type=1#!/media/set/?set=a.378980095523300.93262.100002339386305&type=1 You might want to check this out, nismos14270r!

I'm currently stuck in the middle of the gulf of mexico at work, but I still wanted to share something else I was working on before I left. I dont have pictures of the finished product yet, but I'll upload some when I get home next week. I had a bunch of spare time, and someone gave me a ton of aluminum rings. So, I decided to make a cloth/mail suspension for my do. Even though my kote uses japanese style mail, I decided to go with a nanban style due to the materials I had on hand. In the future I'll either make a new kote or suspension, still just learning at this point. (This last picture is before the final coat of paint was applied.) I finished them off with a black edge binding, and stitched all the sections to the fabric panels. The only issues currently is with the painted aluminum. The paint is coming off in few places. So I'm not sure, even after a ton of work, that I'll end up using these.

The finished panels: Not sure if I'm going to use them yet, but I think they came out pretty good!
