As I gleefully clean and decorate my home, and plan the annual feast for this most auspicious event, I found myself wondering if anyone else in this lovely forum celebrates. Personally, this started for me a few years back when a good friend suggested that with my Asian interests, and my severe S.A.D, not to mention my love of hosting dinner parties, I might give a big shindig for this annual event. And you know, I'll be damned if this hasn't helped me extensively through the worst of my depression. Fastforward several years, and here I sit, delightedly planning the final decorations and party details. Oh, and have I got a feast planned this year! I've made Chinese and Japanese banquets in the past, but this time I thought I would try my hand at Korean comfort food: bibimbap, pajeon, kimchi jigae, japchae, mandu, gangeong, and three kinds of homemade kimchi. Not to mention bulgogi if I have the resources to accomodate it. All this with Korean tea, soju, and sake to wash it down. Have I missed anything? After gluttonously gorging feasting, all in attendance continue to party with games and good company into the wee hours. With that said, I ask with utter curiosity of the good gentles here, how do you ring in this lunar new year?

Spoiled for choice here in the Bay Area, may have dinner out with a friend who's originally from Hong Kong. I sort of would like to go to the parade in San Francisco, but crowds make me a bit twitchy, so not sure if I'm going to try this year.
