Noble Cousins!
Greetings from Solveig! What sort of classes should we have at Pennsic this year? Should there be a general get together of some sort?

I am in favor of a get-together of some sort. The overall schedule is a bit helter-skelter since the War is ending on Saturday instead of Sunday, so it's a bit difficult to plan right now. Monday evening looks a little empty. I'll be participating in the Pennsic A+S Display in the Great Hall all day Sunday, so that's a good time for people to try to find me. I'll be participating in Artisans' Row Narow Wares Day doing kumihimo all day on Tuesday. At other times, I'll be camping with Clan Yama Kaminari in E03. For those who don't know, the Coopers built a new event building on N01 that is about twice the size of the old barn. The old barn will reportedly hold the Pennsic Market, an enhanced concessions area that may include lumber and hardware from Lowes.

Well, the gathering of Japanese personae never got planned, but I feel like i had a wonderful war. Most of the week, the weather was nicer than it has been in many years. Numbers at the gate were a little lower (we didn't break 10,000 this year) but that seemed to enhance the feeling of community rather than diminish it.
The shortened schedule was disliked by most attendees. It jammed a lot of events together earlier in the week, and meant that many of the things we have to get done at the end of war (which can usually be spread over Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday morning) mostly all had to get done on Friday (and there was a battle in the morning). As nice as this may be for the Coopers and their clean-up staff, hopefully it is not the new standard, although having an extra recovery day before having to return to work is also nice.
As usual, the A&S display was tremendous. There is a lot more room in the new Great Hall, but we mostly filled it up anyway. I brought some of my best stuff to show off, and I still felt kind of shabby when I saw what others were displaying. I think my favorites were the collapsible armoire and the full medieval Passover Seder plate.
The most important thing from a personal perspective this war was being belted as an apprentice to Mistress Roxanne de St. Luc. My wife Lady Hara was also belted as a protege to Mistress Hildarun Hugelmann, so it was a pretty big week for us as a couple.
