Ohayoo Gosaimasu!
It is with grave feelings that I must let you all know that I have learned that there are spies among us! It has been reported to me by VERY reliably sources that one of our compatriots here on Tousando known by the innocent name of "makiwara" is actually a Ninja sent by European focused members of the Society to sew discord and disrupt our Nihon focused community. Verify the facts for yourself, visit her webpage, and you will find that "makiwara" is actually a front for some European-phile person!
Compatriots! Let us come together to destroy this spy within out midst!!!

My Japanese-English dictionary says that a Makiwara is a target for arrows, or something wrapped in jutte to hit...What is up with that? Solvieg-s pamphlet mentions nothing about a Name...
You may be right!

I can say that on the seventeenth day of the second month a Lady Jehanne did approach my encampment. During our brief conversation, she reveiled knowledge which could only have been obtained from Makiwara-hime. At no time during the following days did I observe the two together.

I may be but a weak and feeble woman of the Fujiwara clan but I am worth more than ten thousand gossiping, lying men. My name is not for such as them. I hereby challenge any who considers himself my equal to an ensho awase.
Sticks and stones slander Not the ephemeral spirit, Merely the body. Rumor is more treacherous, Thus is honor stained by lies.
Do you really think That blinkered gaijin would know How to FIND ninja? Longbowmen and cavalry Are much more to their liking.

But do you not reference the very evidence that she is a spy?!?!? Does this not make you simply one in league with her, attempting to confuse the issue by citing the very work she has done to infiltrate our organization!!!

Limericks. Hah. And they accuse ME of being a gaijin.
An Outlander bushi once thought That his unit's victory was bought With the thrusts of his yari A poke and a parry - Until the poor fellow got caught.

Makiwara-hime - you had me at 'thrusts!' ;D ;D ;D Uncle. Your Japanese vocabulary is bigger than my Japanese vocabulary. (This is not an admission that I am any sort of agent for the BOD!) What does "otoko" mean? I can guess most of the rest from context.

There was young lad of Kyoto Who was boasting of the size of his sword Until he revealed that he had concealed Nothing more than a short sword.
If I have this right (and my Japanese is very weak (and this is an open invitation for anyone to correct me at anytime)), kyoto no otoko no ko has a literal translation of a young boy of kyoto but has an added flavor of a young homosexual lover.

Who was boasting of the size of his sword As I thought, much could be gleaned from context. [Sigh. BOYS!] Thank you.

Masahide saw spies all around him. With a paranoid fear he did hound them He stood shaking his fist Though they did not exist Mere imaginings' ghosts to confound him.
Damn you all, now I'm thinking in LIMERICKS!!!!!!!

Do you all not know. It takes a ninja, to catch a ninja. Sneaky little buggers.

I can say that on the seventeenth day of the second month a Lady Jehanne did approach my encampment. During our brief conversation, she reveiled knowledge which could only have been obtained from Makiwara-hime. At no time during the following days did I observe the two together. Thanks for playing, gentlemen, this was great fun! For the happy few on the board who have no idea what is going on, I do, in fact, have "Multiple Persona Disorder." As it turns out, Otagiri-dono and I were camped about a block and a half apart at this past Estrella. I had noticed his banners flying earlier in the day, but he was off poking people with rattan. When I passed by a second time, I saw a suit of armor I recognized on a person I did not (Hi, Ryokai-dono!) and signs of activity coming from the yurt behind him. So I hail the camp from the roadside in Japanese. A head pops out the yurt door in uncanny imitation of the local groundhog population. "Hai?" "Otagiri-dono?" Blankly, "Hai-i-i-i?" (I'm in a straw hat and wool cotehardie.) I will not speculate as to the nature of the gears audibly clicking in his head. So I bow and introduce myself. Much smiling and bowing ensues...... M.
