I used HTTrack and it does all the work for you. I MAY post it up in SCA Japanese (Facebook) in its zip form with the caveat that it is still copyrighted. I don't need a lawsuit so I will wait and see for a bit.

I used HTTrack as well. If I get a chance today I'll upload it on my server as a ZIP so other can download it as well. I don't think we will have any problems with Copywrite Law as long as we a) don't change the medium or b) start charging for it. It was available for free and made public so as long as we are just doing the same thing we should be okay as long as the family doesn't change the way the content is available (ie they decide to start selling the patterns or something of that nature).

The copyrights belong to his estate and his family, and setting up a mirror site without their approval would be copyright infringement, based on what I read online. I would advise not putting it up yet; his site is still active and I would suggest sending people there, first. It should be good until November, at least.
It is good that we have a copy, but I can't agree with putting it back up without his estate's approval. His estate still owns the rights, and even though it was offered on his website that doesn't mean that we can just do what we want with his work. Believe me, if I thought it was the right thing to do I would have done it already.
We have it all copied off, and we'll work to get things to stay up in a way that respects the wishes of his family, who are very concerned with how Tony's legacy is preserved. I brought this up briefly with them, but they will need time to figure out everything else before dealing with this. I'll see them this weekend and I'll see how things are going--I suspect that we can talk about this more in earnest in February.

I understand where you are coming from and will hold off on putting the ZIP file up.
The last thing I would ever want to do is put any more stress on Effingham's sensei's family at this time.

Ii-dono, thank you for taking the lead on this and working with Hiraizumi-dono's family to get this valuable resource preserved.

This makes me incredibly sad. His was the first site I ever discovered when making my armor and was so incredibly helpful.
