Recently, a good friend of mine, Kameshima Zentarou Umekai, was elevated of the Order of the Pelican by their Majesties Timothy and Gabrielle of Aethelmearc. More pictures at the event gallery here - www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10201064488009069.1073741838.1674253379&type=1&l=4d462ef3d1Lady Hara and I assembled the dobuku (though we let everybody call it a haori) from decorated components (check out the awesome embroidery by Kateryne of Bakestonden, and I worked on the "Eboshi of Maintenance". The vigil totally transformed a classroom and fed a small army. After much research, Kameshima was unable to find any examples of a period "oath of fealty" to use in court. He wound up substituting "an oath that was not an oath", explaining that among our people fealty is not sworn, it simply is. Hopefully he will make the full text of that available later.

A beautiful ceremony. Any word on the translations for the oath?
Also, and pardon my ignorance, but is the "Eboshi of Maintenance" symbolic of something else that is significant in the award structure of Aethelmearc? Regardless, I think it's super stunning!

Part of the pelican regalia is a "cap of maintenance"... substitute "eboshi" for "cap" and there you go.

Any word on the translations for the oath? The 'oath' was in English, it just wasn't an "oath", per se. It was more of an explanation how in the ways of our homeland, one doesn't need to swear service to one's lord because one's life has already been spent serving that lord. Where others might feel the need to speak an oath of fealty, among our people it is enough to note that this service will continue.
