Shitagi and monpe Diving into my stash of fabric to create a wardrobe. Starting out with garments that will mostly be hidden, so rookie mistakes won't be too obvious. This is 7oz. linen that I dyed last summer. Think I will overdye with the same color, to see if it can get closer to the shade of my armors lacing. Used these instructions for the shitagi : www.j-armour.com/method/shitagi.htmlAnd these for the monpe: www.ee0r.com/proj/jgarb01.htmlDidn't add the pleats to the monpe, kind of wish I had. Gap for the doorknob catchers is noticeably deficient. Also, I think the ties for the shitagi are too high. Haven't added the button yet. I've also made a white juban with fully attached sleeves. Next projects using this strategy are another white juban (think the sleeves will only be partially attached on that one) and a brown oyoroi hitatare using Effingham-Sensei's simplified pattern. I think there is enough of the brown to make a kataginu as well. I say brown, it too is a victim of my first attempts at dying, and is a splotchy dirty grey. Once those garments are done, they too will be over dyed in the same brown, because it can't get worse than already is.

Diving into my stash of fabric to create a wardrobe. Starting out with garments that will mostly be hidden, so rookie mistakes won't be too obvious. Yay, medieval Japanese "track suit"! These are also good for wearing in camp when you're just lounging and don't want to wrinkle your nicer clothing. I'm glad these instructions were useful to somebody. I look back on these and I think, "maybe one of these years I should fix those typos." It's amazing how much room for movement those little pleats can add. Another good place for a button is inside the front waistband of the monpe. Use the smallest, flattest button you can find. The only purpose of this "belly button" is to help you figure out which side is the front without having to turn on the lantern. What kind of dye are you using? If all your dying is coming out too light, this points to a consistent flaw in your technique that should be easy to overcome.

Wow! This is interesting! It is going to look amazing with my sports bra as well. I am model and I have to do photoshoots for a friend’s clothing line. This is actually very pretty and the pictures are going to come out really nice.
