Since my suit goes below japanese standards even for ordinary retainer armour, but given its nature is for combat i was wondering what kind of neck defense i could use. I intended to use tate-eri to add some padding to shoulders. So what are my options? I will definitely have yodare-kake on menpo but thought of using nodowa or guruwa. So how these two are (if) worn with tate eri? I know they go beneath do. Just bear in mind my aim is additional protection rather than historical authenticity and correctness. My suit is full laced in sugake so would be these parts.
Other thing i wanted to ask is kote with integrated sode. Anyone used it? How is it compared to regular sode? Could kohire be used with such kote?
P.S. im new to japanese armour making and this is my first fast project so please forgive for any mistakes. I realize that i aim for fully armored samurai in cheap armor witch historically would be inaccurate(?)

I would expect the tate-eri to be outside the collar of the guruwa, with the yodare-kake hanging out the front. In reality, I'm not sure if you would have bothered with a tate-eri, in that instance, but guruwa are not the most common type of neck protection, though they are great for SCA.
