So a friend of mine tried to help me with answers but didn't have them so he directed me here. I know that there is a lot of general information available on the types of silk to use and what weights to use for period costuming but I am actually looking for documentation I could use in a research paper regarding the weaves/types of fabric that are appropriate in the Momoyama period and what weights, in actual weight or momme, period fabrics were made in. I know a number of textiles still exist so I would think this information would be out there somewhere but all I keep finding is information stating that most modern silks are not heavy enough and certainly avoid the slubby modern types that are so popular. Perhaps I just don't know the right combination of search words to put into Google to find this information. Any insights would be appreciated. Carey

Thanks! I know I have seen that one before so I will have to figure out where. I have found so many books via Google for other Japanese research purposes lately that I was getting really stumped that I couldn't at least find a reference to a book with info via Google search.

Do you read Japanese? Jidai Isshou no Nuikata has information on actual garments. Otherwise, there might be some other recommendations, depending on how scholarly and in depth the information you would like is.
