Because I don't have enough going on in my life, I took a woodworking class from my old friend, Mr. Tadao Arimoto. We, the students I mean, made ourselves binzasara. The binzasara is an instrument made of dozens (mine has 132) wooden leaves between two handles. Manipulating the handles causes the plaques to clack together in various percussive ways. Monotonous to make, but fun to have. Additionally, he gave me some pointers on using the yari-ganna (spear plane) I bought couple of months ago, and showed me how to sharpen it. Now it's actually usably sharp!
