Nice!! I was just thinking of L5R the other day. Didn't play the card game but a friend back home ran the RPG very enjoyably.

I'll have to get a picture of mine when I unpack it. I had my fighting group say, "We're glad that we're on YOUR side... WE don't want to get hit with it."
And this is a compliment from them

I have a question, does anyone know of a site that has Kanabo's or Tetsubo for sale? Or does anyone know of anyone that might be willing to sale one? I am working on a tv show for Spike and we are looking to test weapons of different warriors and this is one of the weapons that we will be testing...any help that you can give me will be greatly appreciated
Thank you.

Working, working, working on my tetsubo. Rattan is planed and stained, and the foam is being glued on. What I don't know is how to make the ring on the end. I think I want to drill a hole in the butt end, split the rattan to the hole, insert a rubber O-ring (about 2.5-3 inches in diameter), close the end, then tape the end up.
This make sense? Other ideas?

A pair of tetsubo, ready for the Warriors of History tournament at Pennsic this year (http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=98909). If any samurai want to come to the tournament, but don't have a tetsubo of their own, find me and use one of mine. (But it's cooler if you make your own, because more smashy is more smashy.) The original (from Ian Bottomley's book, "Arms and Armour of the Samurai"): And mine (compare to the third from the top in the Bottomley scan): Here's the specs: - Originally 1.75" rattan, planed into an octagon, stained "mahogany" - 5' long (despite the foreshortening in the photo), 3' of iron and 2' of handle - The "iron splints" are By My Hand foam, covered in rubber tool dip, with gray tape (easier to see in person) - The "iron rings" are rubber o-rings for toilet repair, hammered into a slot cut in the end, which is then taped up like a son-of-a-gun SMASHY SMASHY.

Spearweasel, I think I replied to your thread on Armour Archive, but it's high density foam from By My Hand (who make those beautiful ax and polearm heads you see everywhere). www.bymyhanddesigns.com/

Wow, I think I'm doing it wrong. My tool dip is ugly.

Some of them have been all wood with Iron Studs, some of them have been all Iron, and some of them have been wood handle with Iron "Business End" I should know, I've checked em' out at Rising Sun (Oriental Weapons Shop around here.) I finally found a kanabo or tetsubo for sale in Japan which appears to be old, it is around 4' 9" long, no telling how old but it the only old one I have seen of this size. The other one is a bo. Here is a small Jutte tetsubo
