This weapon was made by my friend.. And it's kanabo, tetsubo is made out of iron...

The two words basically mean the same thing now, here is an example>> www.nihonzashi.com/japanese_weapons_tetsubo.aspx If you search for both words you usually come up with the same thing, a wooden club with iron spikes sometimes with an iron cover or plates over one or both ends.

I saw one at the old Katori Hombu that was about 5 feet long. It was 1.5" in diameter at the base and maybe 3.5" in diameter at the top. It may have been hexagonal, my memory is fuzzy, but it was wood inside and the whole thing was covered with a thin iron plate. there were some spikes, but very short and not too sharp. It was designed to crush armor and damage the body underneath.

I wanted to, but the old KSR hombu is part of somebody's house and I didn't get permission. I can tell you that it did not have a handle; it was one smooth tapered shaft.
