Well, I'm trying to get a place to hold a Japanese event: Defense of Hakata Bay. Date is probably 2nd weekend in May, and the location will be somewhere in Northern Virginia, most likely.
Plans are to have camping Friday and Saturday night, with a large field battle(s) on Saturday, along with several options for food (a day tavern), an evening tavern ('below the salt') and a small, expensive dinner at zen and seated.
The problem so far is getting the right place. The camp that would be perfect for it has a minimum of $5/person/day with a $5/night camping fee, or $40/night for the lodge, or $10/night for a cabin. That's possibly:
$ 5*3 = $15 $40*2 = $80 ------------------- $95 That's before a feast that would probably cost between $15 and $25 dollars (or below the salt for $5), and not including non-member surcharge or surcharge for things like supplying porta-johns, etc. This seems like an extremely steep price, so I'd be interested in what others think, pricing wise, an event should be at?
Also, if you have access to a large field and kitchen in Virginia, let me know!

You know, it's funny that you should mentiona Hakata Bay. Just the other night, my knight, his squire, and myself were thinking about how appropriate a novelty water fountain would be in commemoration of the historical event.
