Does anyone have any experiance with fighting with Tetsubo, and the styles used?
I'm suspecting it's similar to a great mace, but with less handle surface.

I have handled one, but not in SCA combat (or in real combat, for that matter).
I describe it as an iron baseball bat; the one I handled was two handed, I don't know if there were one handed ones or not. Because of this, it ended up (in my inexpert hands), swinging like a baseball bat.
A lot of fun, and I'd love to make one for SCA combat; it would be stupid simple too, just...rattan, with foam studs.

I find myself humbled, having posted without reading the already length section on Tetsubo making; mine is so...boring. Easy, but boring

Ishikawa-dono:
If I were to seek to study the tetsu-bo, I would turn to what has been written about the staff - be it European quarter staff or Japanese bo. I would supplement this with the pole ax and naginata. The iron staff is, at its core, still just a staff.
