Does anyone have sources and/or suggestions for acquiring yari fittings? Off the top of my head, Bugei "used to" have various fittings, I have not gotten a catalog from them in a few years, so I can;t tell you if they are still offering them for sale, their full line of fittings never were on their website in the past. Also check with Fred Loehman Co. (sp) IIRC Bugei used to get their fittings from them wholesale anyhow... prices were about the same and FLC used to be notorious for being slow to ship since it was a mom&pop shop, and they spent alot of time overseash on buying trips, and at shows across NA, good people, just darn busy, I think they have expanded in tha past few years because I have not heard people complaining of the delays anylonger. Other than that, internet hunting is your best bet. Alot of internet swordstores used to buy up spare parts from hanwei on lot prices and had some cool but oddball things.. Also try Kris Cutlery, they have had fittings for abortive yari and naginata projects over the years, might have some in stock. -Takeda

I just took a peek at the bugei site... they do not presently have anything yari related listed unless I am being blind.
I have done a few google searches Mantis swords has a complete yari for $500 if you are looking for new...
I also found a paul chen yari for $271 through dragonfly products. new.
in antigue I found a few sources for blades, but no other fittings.
I also found a jumonji-yari on e-bay for just shy of $800 looks like it is complete.
perhaps more details on what parts you are looking for??? sorry I could not come up with better results for you...

Thank you for browsing for me.
"perhaps more details on what parts you are looking for??? "
What I am interested in doing is mounting at least one of two reproduction spear heads.
Since I have the ho, I'm looking for (spelling from poor memory): Gyakuwa Do-gane (2) Mizu-gaeshi Kabura-maki
I'm looking for pearl or abalone for the haft as well. If anyone has tips on braiding kabura-maki (in lieu of an actual source), please let me know.

If your kinda handy, you can make them out of common copper pipe fittings. I just got through making a yari, and naga for my Baronal guard weapons. The yari is a real one from the mid 1600's, the naga is the Cris-cutlery repo. I didn't jaz them up any. Except for some gold wash. If your good with a dremel tool or some fine files, you could make them look very real. And the price is right. Took me a couple hours. Tomoyuki

Oh, and that Jumonji on ebay is a good one. It's got some nasty battle chips, but looks all there. And the guy selling them is as cool as they get. T
