Recommend curving your kusazuri. Otagiri posted a picture of Effingham in his suit. Notice the gradual curvature of the kusazuri plates.
The sode and do are well done. I especially admire the job you did on the lacing. The lower plates on your do should be brought up a bit more, same length as that of the upper plates, this will bring the waist-line more in line with your own, adding to your flexibility on the field.
Your shikoro...they need to be closer to your helm. The sides stick out far too much. And standby for lots of dents in your brim. Good job on conversion, time for tweaking.
Over all, good work. Any visibility on haidate and suneate?

That's nice! What kind of leather is this? What weight? How did you glue it onto the plastic? The look is great. I agree with Baron Randall that your brim is going to get beat up. I disagree slightly about the shikoro. Shikoro flare at all different angles and it is true that most 16th C shikoro would be flatter, but there is an advantage to wide shikoro in the SCA since they help deflect blows that would otherwise hit the shoulders. It can take some getting used to judging shikoro hits. There is also a danger of having thrusting tips thrust into the inside of the shikoro. Take a weapon and poke around to see what you've got. Since you already have a helmet under there, it won't be an armour safety problem; but you should get used to who it might feel. I think I like the angle of the shikoro on the right-side-of-the-picture and think the left needs to be pulled in based on this pic: membres.lycos.fr/dreuxderouen/japanese/pic6.jpgThe cheek plates turned out pretty well. I definately agree that the kusazuri need some curvature. Some of them are actually curved in the wrong direction. This is a small nit, but I would replace the lacing on the watagami with something more round (fuller).

Tres sweet! I like the color combo, too. I agree, though, that the kusazuri should have a curve -- if it's not too late to do that. All around comment: Nice lines. Tony

Nice work and I love the color! You did a good job on converting that helmet too, I would have never thought it could be done

Well... thanks all for your comments and good words. I should have known your sharp eyes would catch on the kusazuri :-) The fact is, I have all the under-plates (1/16 inches alum plates) already cut. I just need to punch and relace the kusazuri with the underplates, and of course they will be curved.... it really was my very next step on "things to do" :-)
rjsimmons, About the helm brim and shikoro, since they are leather only I'm really not sure they will survive the field, but at least now I have the pattern to eventually make them out of steel...
haidate and suneate ? Not sure yet, it will have to be my regular legs (european) hiden under garment for some time....
Otagiri, about the weight of the leather I really don't know. I think it is about 1/8 thick. What I did is cut and lace the pieces as if it was real steel pieces, and then I stitched it to the under plastic (No glue).
For the lacing on the watagami, well I asked some time ago on the armurarchive if it was more accurate round or flat. The answer was not definitive, so I used flat. Wouldn't be hard to change though....
Tony, thanks for the kind words and most of all for all the infos I got from you and from your web site.
shintaro
Was not sure either :-) It was an interesting learning process.... until I have time and material to actually make a complete steel kabuto...

Flat for the watagami laces is fine. It should roughly twice that wide however. The kusazuri issue has already been covered. Not a bad conversion at all. Look at Eff's bill pattern again. That one looks like it came off a ball cap. ( I SHOULD have pics of Bill's new Dou up by the end of the week. Sensei just called, my watagami maruhimo has arrived. I'll pick it up tonight.)

Well I should begin a quest to find large black laces :-) Thanks, as I told it was a good learning process. Sorry, I don't quite understand to what pattern you are referring... or maybe my poor english make me miss what may be humor ? I always look forward to see pic of your work. Mik

Mik,
The shape on the bill when viewed from the front should be straight --- or only slightly peaked. Yours has a distinct arc, like a baseball cap.

Mykaru, sorry for my lack of vocabulary, I sometime have a hard time with synonymous :-) I didn't catch that "bill" was meaning the visor... yes it is very curved, this is my lack of observation....
greeneel, it is not red plastic. It is black plastic (the plastic do not show) covered with black leather that was painted red.
Ronin, thanks for the kind words. The fact is that I hesitated making it red mainly because of the recent movie The Last Samurai. Not that I didn't like the movie, but I was afraid to be too much associate with the look of the main character and that people would think that I choose red because of this movie....
Mik... still working on the curved kusazuri in the very few spare time I have left theses days...
