Does anyone have pictures or links to details of a tenugui kabuto? I am especially interested in 'under the back flap' and 'inside the bowl' shots. What I am trying to understand is the construction in the back half of the helmet. Right now, I am imagining three possibilities: (1) There is a normal 5/6/8 plate bowl and the 'towel' is just a decorative piece added over the top. (2) The 'sides' of the helmet are an exaggerated koshimaki and the 'towel' is the 'bowl' (2a) The 'towel' is only attached to the koshimaki with rivets along the front half of the bowl. (2b) I think (2a) is correct, but others (Tony?) have told me that there is no 'gap' along the back edge and I don't know how to reconcile 'no gap' with 'no rivets' along the back edge. Any help you can offer is much appreciated.

I've seen several of these, and the construction runs the gamut. All of those methods would be possible. The simplest form, of course, is just a dressed out top-plate attached to a 3-plater, with a gap showing at the back.
