I've been studying the kabuto pictures on Effingham-dono's site, and I've noticed two very different mabizashi. The first type seems to be attached only to the koshimaki and is narrower to the other type, which is wider and seems to be attached to the bowl itself. Am I correct in my deductions, and would each type be suited to different bowls?
Also, I'm going to have a little money and time this summer, so I thought I start on a SCA-suitable kabuto utilizing a pre-made bowl from Ironmonger or some other such place. How should I go about assembling a solid metal shita-jikoro with a kikko-ed fabric cover without marring the powder coating on any of the pieces?
Arigatou!
