Well i've been looking at Kabutos for a while trying to decide on a style that i like. I really like the Momonari (peach shaped) Kabuto. I was wondering. How hard would it be to turn a Conical Helm into a Momonari?

Well, very -- given that they're totally different shapes. ;D
A conical helm would make a decent shii-nari, however -- as those are conical.

Momonari kabuto: If you're refering to a Norman conical helmet, is it one piece or a spangen? If one piece, I would tilt it back about 15-20 degrees and cut the bottom off flat. Hammer a serious ridge using a fluting stake up the middle. Add the koshimaki and mabizashi. Rusto Lacquer the heck out of it and add shikoro. The skikoro of some momonari were only a single lame, which simplifies that. To make it SCA worthy, rivet a curved sheet of sufficient length to the underside of the hachi and conceal with a shita-jikoro If it's a spangen, you're SOL. You'd be better off starting from scratch.

the base that i'm thinking about using is from Warrior armor and jewelry. Would it be harder to adapt a Round top helm or the conical helm. Because it looks like all i would have to do is hammer the dent in the front just below the point. Also, the Conical stock tops they sell aren't very pointed at the top. It comes unfinished just a base form hammered out.
