Hey Big Sis, just picked up two sweet pieces of fabric today. Here's my plans and questions:
Fabric #1) A gorgeous, lustrous medium-soft-yellow habotai, or damn close to habotai.
Looking to turn it into either two uchigi, or an uchigi and mo (there's a lot of it, A LOT). Were mo ever another color besides white? On my budget, it would be great to kill two barbarians with one stone from this fabric.
Fabric #2) A dull sheen, school house red with a fine woven line and diamond mesh pattern.
Thinking of using this for a kouichgi, which means stenciling. Never mind that I'll be stenciling on a part-mesh, I'm curious if there's extant examples, or at least known examples, of such a pattern-on-woven-pattern?

Not to my knowledge, sorry. "Figured" silks were patterned. www.takata-courtrobe.co.jp/en1.htm Scroll down and look at the patterned fabrics midway down the page. Saionji

Wanna bet? No one can conceal the Funky Chicken.Except, perhaps, a chicken. I had a pet rooster as a child. He was the sweetest thing, until he forgot he had the spurs Just loved to have his comb rubbed. He made the rooster equivalent to a purr. Very nice hitatare, and the perfect color too. So jealous. Just inspired to make something decent for myself now. Will have the time now that I'm laid up with a recovering knee.
