Wear the black, heather grey, or white ones and nobody will ever know unless you tell them.

I placed an order yesterday with Solsocks. The way their shopping cart is set up, if you use Paypal, they will not ask you for a shipping address and will use what you have stored at Paypal.
I discovered my Paypal account gave them an out-of-date shipping address (because eBay, where I tend to use it, works differently). So I tried to back out of the order and canceled payment, corrected my account information on Paypal, re-ordered the two pairs of socks again and paid via Paypal, hoping that the folks on the other end would figure it out. Within hours I had an email from a Live Human Being asking whether I'd meant to order the same thing twice and advising that they would be ready to ship Monday (tomorrow).
The customer service bodes well. Shipping on two pairs of fleece socks came out to a very reasonable $2.99. I will report further when I receive my order.

Heh, I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd comment on something I know a little bit about =P I have bought a pair of socks from them, the black ones to be exact. They were originally for my refusal to recognize it was winter when I was in college, but they have since found other uses. The fleece is lasting longer than I thought it would. It's not that thin fleece either. I'm pretty happy with them, I hope you enjoy yours too!

My Sol Socks arrived in this afternoon's mail - postmark is North Carolina, sent first class mail - you can't say they didn't get the order out fast.
I ordered a pair each of the Ivory light-weight and the light Heather light-weight, both size medium.
Sizing for medium says women's 9 -10.5 or men's 8 - 9.5 on the packaging. I take a women's 8.5 - 9 shoe and I'd say if you're at the high end of the size range, you might want to go the next size up. There's plenty of stretch widthwise, less lengthwise.
Color. The "Ivory" is just that. The light Heather is sort of dust colored, very neutral and unobtrusive.
Label. There's a bright green blue and gold brand logo label on the outer cuff of the right sock only. It's serged onto the sock - easiest thing would be to simply cut the tag off.
Fleece weight - light-weight is what it says. Thin without being flimsy, I think they'll be fine unless one is planning on wearing flip flops in Calgary in January....

Gave the ivory (lightweight) pair a field test this weekend at Crown. They're very comfortable, so much so, I wore them to bed both nights. Nighttime temperatures in Woodland this weekend got down into the 40s. For outdoor wear in colder temperatures, you may want to consider the colors that come in a heavier weight of fleece.

Were they so warm that if you wore them in a warmER environment (say 60's-70's) would they be uncomfortably hot?

The material comes from the mill that manufactures Polarfleece (TM) and Polartec (TM). They were off and I was barefootin' it by around 11:30 (it got into the 70's in Woodland today).

Hmm - Daytime temps have not even gotten UP to the 40's here in the Great White Buffalo area... The days are getting longer by fractions - so that helps...It is snowing today...AGAIN. This Mutsu boy has seen enough snow this winter, and longs for spring. You know that scene in Ten to Chi to where the Daimyo is stomping down the thick snow covered mountains of Kai...it is like that here, only not pretty - just cruddy grey snow and lotsa of ice... The socks sound quite "Ten-to(e) Neet-o"

I'm sorry that your spring has not arrived yet Date-dono. Here it is allready starting to be the opposite. It got to the high 80's yesterday and will probably hit the 90's in a week or so. I am already thinking about the A/C . I will probably pick up a pair of these near the end of the summer though. It is nice to have warm feet during the winter when you work outdoors.
