Pennsic was lopsided toward the middle this year. Warpoints wise, the tally ended up 26 points for the middle and 1 for the east. The fighting was pretty clean all week despite the odd fighter that needs to be beat into submission.
I got asked to be on the Midrealms Unbelted Champions team, and enjoyed crossing swords (or naginata if you will) with our eastern brothers. I put the eyeball on Sato from Yama-K's helmet, and fought beside Nissan for a bit defending the castle. Other than that, i didn't get a chance to make the rounds this year.

War stories! We want war stories! Heads taken, glorious and tragic deaths, all that good stuff.
Stuffing my life into boxes is so uninspiring.

Ok, for the lovely Makiwara, i will tell of one war story.
During a medical hold (the person left the field on their own power thankfully) I was casually informed (by Sir Gerwulf) of some Hause Bloodguard fighters that were lined up on a collision course with our backsides. I was ordered to turn and deal with the enemy fighters.
While waiting for the hold to end, another fighter by the name of Duke Sir Brannos (yep, name dropping again) walked up to me and told me of the same thing i was informed of earlier. I told his grace that Sir Gerwulf and I were going to deal with the threat as well. He smiled and we let the subject drop until "lay on" was called.
Upon "lay on" Myself, Sir Gerwulf, and Duke Sir Brannos did an immediate about face and made an obvious path to the three or four Blood Guard fighters that we being tied up by few sword and board fighters. After engaging and quickly eliminating the fighters the three of us were suprised to see three more Hause Blood Guard squeeze their way out of the lines and into the backfield.
Now being the type of people we were, we just simply couldn't let the opposing side roam around like that. We again, made an intercepting run to the opposing fighters (two unbelted and a knight). What followed is why Sir Gerwulf is one of the best spearmen in the known world. On a dead run toward the opposing knight in front of him, Sir Gerwulf threw a "no look" spear shot at the unbelted sword and shield fighter to his left, (at almost ninety degrees by the way) and scored a direct hit to the bar grill. The second unbelted sword and shield fighter dipped his shoulder to throw a shot at Sir Gerwulf but i was already inbound with a naginata shot that resoundedly found it's mark upon the fighter's cranium.
Duke Sir Brannos and Sir Gerwulf then proceeded to what would be best described as an "on the field mugging" of the remaining fighter (the knight). As Brannos' pole arm shot connected upon the knights helm, Sir Gerwulf's flip mace shot landed square between the poor man's shoulder blades, ending the threat to the rear areas of the lines.
The whole story takes place in less than thirty seconds, at a dead run, and covered almost the entirety of the Pennsic field.

[Grinning like an unladylike maniac!] Ah, Der Blütwache! Hiroda-dono, you were hunting my friends and a glorious hunt it must have been indeed!
Despite the warlike Teutonic name, Bloodguard is a very nice bunch of boys with an unfortunate tendency to date pretty young things who don't know which way a sleeve goes on! I know - I was part of a pre-Coronation emergency salvage operation on some black velvet cotehardies a couple of years ago. His Grace, Andreas never "met" Makiwara, but he made Jehanne a member of the East's Order of the Troubadour.
Sounds like you had a great time.

I don't have any war stories to share, however, I found one particular gentleman very odd. To query: am I the only one at Pennsic this year that had the urge to walk up to the ninja git I saw each evening and tell him, "I see you!" ? Nonetheless, I had a wonderful time at my FIRST Pennsic. Met many new faces, like Date-dono, though never did figure out who the hell offered to teach me on my koto, nor did I get around to hanging out much with Yama Kaminari (I'm shy that way). To simply wander around and see the sights was always fun. Wolgemut put on a phenomenal, high-energy, two-hour performance that was a definite must see. I also received compliments on a couple of my Kamakura outfits, which made this kuge strut around like a grinning fool. I had so much fun, that I feel it compulsory to start financial planning and the like for next year. (Lol, Big Sis, you're getting included in that.) My two sen, Nagamochi

What, there was only one? The others must be getting better at being stealthy. ;-> Aren't they fun? Jehanne was strolling Merchant's Row at Estrella and they chatted HER up. If you're into unmitigated cacophony, they rock. So? Pictures? ?

I am not a ninja. The camouflage sweat pants are a figment of King Thorson's imagination. Who in her right mind would even wear such things? Even if they were on clearance at Walmart.....
Besides, if I were a ninja, would I tell any- Oh, LOOK! [Pointing] Silk!
You know, I DON'T have a problem with people not experiencing the world through a viewfinder at an SCA event.....
