I know I know.. *sigh* I read the website.. but.. it's just.. so bland! There aren't any trees from what I could see in the pictures. Just... flat.
*sighing again*
I'm hoping to make it to Gulf Wars next year. I'm going to be way too busy with moving this year.

I know. We had a spot with trees last year and it was so pleasant. And I keep looking at all that "bigger!" and "better!" and wondering how much better bigger is......

Ever get the feeling that Estrella is going to be as big as Pennsic one year? Yes, that is why they are scouting new sites. Last year they had so many problems with land allotments that they new they had to start looking for someplace new soon. Add into the mix that Estrella mountain park was asking for a lot more money and asking us not to drive into the park for drop off from now on (as well as a hostile park service as well) and it just pushed up the moving schedule. My wife like person went out to see the new site and said that it was HUGE, and they will have a new lawn of grass planted for us by then. I have also heard the rumor that if things go well they may let us make permanent buildings as well at a later date. There is a part of me that worries that this may tun out like when we moved everything out to Schnep Farms in Queen Creek for a few years (Lord that site was horrible), but I try to be optimistic. ;D

Was that the one where most of the battles were done in the pit? and the field battles were done in fields that you could break an ankle in if you weren't careful? Heh. I remember that one.

Yes, that is why they are scouting new sites. Last year they had so many problems with land allotments that they new they had to start looking for someplace new soon. "Gaul is divided into three parts, the West Kingdom into at least half a dozen. " In the past, the West was graciously ceded a portion of Caid's land allotment - last year, due to a misunderstanding as to how many Western attendees were going to be there, our allotment was a mad last-minute scramble to stuff us in whatever random empty bits they could find. This year, for the first time, the West rates its own land. We're on the map and everything. The other thing I noticed last year was that paying for "reserved" parking basically entitled you to circling the encampment until (a) somebody else decided they needed to go to town or (b) Hell froze over. It was clearly oversold. Deliberate? Mistake? Either way, it was just plain not cool. Growth means growing pains. I just hope it's good growth....

Yes all of that, plus lung infections from the pesticides that were sprayed in the area (thankfully not in the area we were in or else it would have been worse) the month before. I fully agree with the parking situation from last year, thankfully I have a small car and was able to squeeze into areas other people couldn't.

Any idea what constitutes "potable water" at the new site? I got sick from the "potable" site water at EMP, like alcohol-overload, please-make-my-tent-stop-spinning sick, only I was stone cold sober. One GWW we actually had to call up and gripe out the guy that supplied the Pony Trailer with water in it. Never mess with Mama Ulrike when she's head of facilities. The stuff was GREEN when it came out the spigot. We had orderd one so that the Water Bearers wouldn't have to worry about dragging the ice chests up there. But the water was green and smelled bad. Fortunately, some alert person checking it out the first day setting up and we got it replaced. But yes, Potable water should be clear and nost smell bad or have strange things trying to crawl out of the container to .. ahem... *hug* you and tell you to take it to your leader. Okay so that last part never happened, but you get the idea.

Saionji no Hanae Well the biggest problem around here is that alot of what is "potable" is well water that sometimes can have different microbs in it depending on the area (I'm sure that you have heard the "Don't drink the water" jokes about Mexico, it is a little like that only not as bad). If you are the type that is sensitive to that then you should either heat it up first or pack in some drinking water.

This stuff was put out in an Igloo cooler for the participants in one of the Sunday night bardics. The organizer says nobody else seemed to have an adverse reaction. However, I did. I guess I'm packing in my own water - that was NOT fun.

Go to my website: www.wodefordhall.com9:00 Saturday. I'm going to lose attendees to battles, aren't I? Karma..... I am grateful they didn't schedule Jehanne's caroling class at the same time as Known World Choir. (This means I might actually have time to DO KWC this year!) Last year they not only put us at the same time, they put us in adjacent ramadas! I took my class down the block and held it behind the portajohns.

Every year they do this to me. Put the classes that I want to go to during the fighting.
Maybe I will send the wife so she can learn to make me stuff instead of me making it all myself... ;D
