Be careful with that, Tametomo-sama. She may come home with a huge grin on her face and not tell you what happened until she begins making.... *stuff* when you get back home. heheheh www.divideby0.com/photos/2004/Anime-Expo/day1/PICT0139.JPG * * moderator edit to remove direct link to very large image

Oh I'd say you definately made the Moderator nervous, at least. *giggling* Now THAT.. is downright scary! But can you imagine THAT showing up at Estrella for the class?

Oh I'd say you definately made the Moderator nervous, at least. *giggling* Now THAT.. is downright scary! Our Moderator did not flee when we first met, so it is my considered opinion that he does not scare easily. I have travelled the Known World. I have sewn the Cheesy Fabric Of Dubious Fiber Content and seen the Error Of My Wicked Ways. I have made and worn publicly the T Tunic Of The Too-Short sleeves and the Orange Ultrasuede Bliaut With Metallic Christmas Trim Around The Neckline. Yea, I have climbed up to the mountaintop and SEEN the Good Garb Idea Gone Horribly, Horribly Wrong. I have witnessed the Bad Idea Drunk, Bad Idea Sober. I have walked among the creative interpretations of "Reasonable Attempt At Pre 17th Century Attire." So if it walks into my class I not only will not be surprised, I'll probably manage to find something nice to say about it....

Wow. This time next week I should be somewhere on I-10 headed east towards site. The West Kingdom has land this year on what appears on the site map to be the east side of the battlefield. While I'm not certain where in that section they're going to put us, if you ask where "The B.C." is, that should get you pointed in the right direction. EDIT: I have just been informed that we will be behind West Kingdom Royal (it's big and yellow with a green crown and laurel wreath), fronting on an access road to the south. The B.C. is a large yellow and white sunshade. Look for a wedge tent nearby with this on it: If you ask for me, ask for Lady Jehanne. (What can I say, I have confused my kingdom and a lot of them can't remember my Japanese names.) I may confuse you even further by looking like this! www.wodefordhall.com/meandgeorge.jpgLooking forward to seeing everyone! Saionji no Hanae

I remember an Estrella several years ago where water froze and those Gentlebeings who had to make use of the Privvies got an interesting suprise at 6 am in the morning. I was campted next to a row of them and had a chorus of yips and shrieks of startlement serenade me awake at that ungodly hour. *grinning wickedly* It was interesting.

Right now we are topping out at 80 degrees and only dropping to about 50 at night so I don't think this will be too cold of an Estrella.

Hrmmmm. I'm not sure what they're called... FooT warmers? they're battery powered socks geared to keep the tootsies warm. Kind of like a mini heating blankie for each foot. I've never tried them but I've known people at Wars who think they were the best thing in the world for cold nights. Any of you tried them?

Modified as I remember things I've forgotten. If nothing else, I figure these lists may give folks ideas or reminders. (Otagiri, I do not see sunscreen on your list....) I suppose I should let my boss know I'm going on vaca next week. You think? Come here, little boy, I have sake. Really GOOD sake.... OK, you win with all the weaponry. At least you don't have to pack for two! Pouch/papers/oxcart: - Blue Card - PreReg Form - Car Insurance - Registration - Drivers License - Credit Card - Cash - Cell Phone, charger - iPod, charger - Business cards - Road atlas (for those are-we-there-yet moments....) - Map to site Tent/camp - 10 x 12 wedge, 2 upright poles, 2 piece ridge pole - 10 stakes - Plastic tarp - Canvas ground cloth - 6 x 9 cotton rug - Sheepskin rugs (2) - Banner poles, banners - 1 lb. sledge (cutest little sledge you ever saw) - Bed frame, slats, bungees (yeah, I know) - Shikibuton - Wool blankets (2) - Sleeping bag - Pillow - Roll-up table - Plant stands (2) - Hanging shelves (2) - Folding stools (2) - Jehanne's chair - Fire extinguisher - Trash basket - Dishpan/washbasin Camp box - Lanterns and hangers (2) - Votive candles - Lighter - Trunk covers/tablecloths - Paper towels - Wet wipes - Sunblock - Chamberpot (for those nights it's too wet or cold to leave the tent in the dead of night....) - Toilet paper - Backgammon board (bringing rainy day games assures it will not rain) - Trash bags - Batteries - Jehanne's felt hat - Mirror - Alarm clock (I have to teach at 9 AM on Saturday) - Strapping tape - String - Utility knife - Claw hammer Trunk/Jehanne: Cotehardies (3) Chemises/undergowns (3) Heavy wool tunic of DOOM (1) Fustian tunic (1) Veil, veil pins Circlet Belt (1) Stockings (3 pr) Wool socks (3 pr) Garters Turnshoes Cold/wet weather boots Cloak Hood Trunk/Saionji: Kosode (3) Obi (1) Eri sugata (1) Tabi Geta Sensu (And that namban bitch says that I am high maintenance! Look how many clothes she insists on bringing and it's all nasty, scratch wool.) (Rebuttal from the namban bitch: If it gets cold, you'll be glad I brought plenty of things to layer. Quit your whining.) Extra socks - one can never have too many pairs of dry socks Understuff (To quote Michael Jordan, "Let's just say Hanes and leave it at that.) Teardown/drive home clothes. Straw hat Jehanne Straw hat Saionji Ditty bag: - Toothbrush - Toothpaste - Comb - Soap - Shampoo/conditioner - Hairties - Hairpins - Lip balm - Advil - Bandaids - Emery board - Ricola drops (a bardic circle MUST) - Jewelry box - Hand lotion - Face lotion wipes - Face cloth - Towels (2) - Yukata (Brilliant, Otagiri! Why didn't I think of this last year! So much easier than a tunic!) Weapons: Hurdy gurdy Psaltery - Book box: Class handouts Books (Dalby, Noma, Stinchecum, Yang, Takeda) Book of Random Jotting Mechanical pencil Known World Choir printouts Cooler: - drinking cup Jehanne - drinking bowl Saionji - wooden bowls (2) - knife (2) - spoon - fork - Wandering Poet sake - Plastic sake cups - 6 pack Smithwicks Irish Ale (Flieg, I love ya to pieces, but I do not love that cheap Dutch beer you drink!) - 6 pack Strongbow Cider - Lemon ginger tea bags (I swear by this stuff for clearing the early morning case of "camp throat" that I usually wake up with.) - Mochi, dorayaki. Dishpan (It's a sink. It's a washbasin. It's a plastic container to stick something in that you don't want sitting on a wet tent floor if it rains....) Random basket o'stuff - George le Curieux - Sewing box - Camera - Shoelaces - Pilgrim scrip (A cloth bag is easier than a basket when one already has a hurdygurdy to juggle.) - Furoshiki - Safety pins - Pennywhistles - Tokens Someone else is packing our kitchen along. Instead I get to bring Gaius' old Radio Flyer for hauling firewood, greywater, etc.
