I got my pre-reg confirmation about a week ago. It's my understanding that the West Kingdom is actually going to have a proper land allotment this year on the east side of the battlefield.
I'm thinking of offering a basic Japanese clothing class of some sort.....
Anybody else attending?

I hope that they have a good land allotment... the new site is almost 4 times larger then the old one.
I am all interested in any clothing classes, as long as I am not fighting at the time of course.

Kitemitsu will be attending Estrella, and I can think of a handful of us who would be delighted to sit in on a Japanese clothing class.
I do hope to enjoy the crossing of swords with all of you on the field, and the pleasure of sake off the field.

I haven't heard back from the Collegium organizers yet. I know I missed the deadline to get into the site book, but I have no idea whether they're still accepting teachers or not at this point.
If I drag a tubful of textile books along to geek over, would people be interested in doing something less formal in private camp some afternoon?

I think that would be great!
Maybe we could even do something like a fabric exchange too.

Maybe we could even do something like a fabric exchange too. Keep your acquisitive bushi hands off my fabric! Hmm, there's nothing resembling a schedule on the event website yet.

The collegium people have finally responded. They are interested in my classes, they just haven't given me dates/times, yet. You'll know more when I do.

The consequences of eating sashimi..... No, wait, that's "bait breath." It'll be my luck they schedule it while you should be taking heads.

As an added to this thread, we are planning an "Asian Day" in our encampment on Thursday the 15th to try and introduce some of the round eyes around us to some of the aspects of playing Asian in the SCA. My friend is Chinese so we are theming it around the New Year (which is on Sunday the 18th but with all of the fighting we decided to do it early). I can't say that everything that we will be doing will be period, but it will definitely have an oriental flair.
We will be cooking for our encampment first but then we want to welcome all of our Asian friends in the society to come and share tales of their life in the society from all across the land, and believe me the sake and tea will flow! We should be done eating around sun down and while I can not promise food to all, I am planning on cooking a lot so after I feed those I have to what is left is up for grabs.
We will probably be camped near the Autocrats encampment (seeing as most of the people in the camp are Autocrats, but don't want to camp at Autocrat's encampment) but I will make sure to mark where we are on the map for everyone. I will update with more details as the war gets closer. I hope to see you there!

New site, new site logistics. www.estrellawar.org/SiteRules/tabid/360/Default.aspxAmong other things, we will have to contend with earthwork berms, canals, and a train line running along one side of the site. Apparently the land is used for farming much of the year, therefore, all grey water must be properly disposed of in tanks provided for that purpose. (I've been asked to bring along my "mule," a venerable Radio Flyer, so we can haul water to the appropriate disposal tanks.) There is a non SCA affilliated tavern and better yet, a general store onsite! (OK, I admit it, I'm a cheap date, but if I don't have to go into town for ice or extra toilet paper, I'm a happy camper.) www.estrellawar.org/NonSCASiteAmenities/tabid/366/Default.aspxStill nothing posted about the collegium schedule.

Did they actually switch the War Site again?? Please tell me they didn't. The last Estrella I went to actually looked like a park and was, well, very nice... if you didn't mind being in the middle of the downpour. This looks like the old campground without the BattlePit. ick, yuck and eww!
