I like it. It is a bit huge, but oh well Wish I had the artistic ability to throw something like that together. I'll stick to brushes in photoshop haha. I'll have to throw up some pictures of mine when I figure out what I'm adding to it.

That's really beautiful. I've been trying to think of how to put two elements together as well, but not having nearly the same success so far. Good job!

There's just one small problem. It's my understanding (and if I'm incorrect, someone please jump in here!) that Japanese heraldry does not have more than one "charge".
You can have three carrots. You cannot have three carrots and three rabbits.

I'm not sure about that, I think that I have seen things like a fan with another charge on the fan. Of course I don't know if that would mean anything in this sense.
While I do like your design I don't think that I have seen a Mon where part of the charge obscures another part of the charge, but that could be easily fixed if that were the case.

The thing is, from a Japanese standpoint, can you document dragonflies used like that (i.e., forming a circular border) around another charge? There are lots of examples of things being turned into enclosures (my own mon -- in the avatar here -- shows an enclosure formed from the outer rim of a chrysanthemum), but the living creature thing is a bit more difficult.
They have been forced into odd shapes (e.g., the cranes in diamond shapes, etc.) but this one is more problematic. Unless I read the description, I never would have realized they were dragonflies. That's possibly problematic.
It is, however, blazonable in English, and -- ironically -- while it might not be classic Japanese style, it may be more likely to pass as a mon in the CoA for that blazonability.

Norie, that site is amazingly useful! The only problem, is I found one that I like, but since they sell their kamon, you can't save any of the images. So I'll have to find a sneakier way of snagging the mon I like to edit

Screen shot, and then crop?

Using your browser, view the source code of the page. Look in the code for the URL of the mon you want. Copy and paste the URL into a new browser window. Save picture.

Eh, just screen shot and crop easiest way to do it. Did a little editing in photoshop before I went out today. This is what I came up with.

Well after a bit of deliberation and the want to finish my shield... I have gone with a tomoe type of sakura in red
its the 6th mon down on the sakura page that Norie so obligingly provided the link to
its simple and easy to paint and put on items and it fits with what I want by way of representation

I have been prospecting that site as well and need some opinions on a Mon. I have three picked out Katabami. I really like wood sorrel have it growning in my rock garden. just wonder which would be the best to blazon.

Hey, tengu, If you're still unsure about your mon, you might try designing something with four dragonflies forming a diamond with the sakura in the middle.
