I can't even say how much I long to make toasts with all of my friends. Pouring a cup of sake sharing the wonderful tales
(it seems I cannot even find a few minutes consecutively during the month to participate in a challenge of this sort...gomen)

Heat rises and soothes As I gaze down into the Warmth cupped in my hands. Though life is fraught with problems A bowl of tea solves a few.

Musical noises From outside the bedchamber Drift throughout the halls; Oh, to join those musicians In their midnight revelry!
(We just got Rock Band 2...)

I feel for the horse, But I spare him not my spurs. Cruel distance is closing Soon I will be in your arms! I came as fast as I could.
(I was away from my wife all day yesterday and today - it felt good to get home!)

In trickles and drabs Inspiration seems to come But just fits and starts; The night may be moonlight clear, Yet lays a fog in my mind.

To our warriors! Those who serve and have fallen - You are in our hearts. May those on patrol come home, Those that don't, be remembered.

Merciless shears clack, Lopping helpless branches off In verdant carnage. Had I such gardeners, it Would be they who would suffer. (The so-called landscape "design" service my employer uses are butchers. Those poor, poor trees....)

For all those who served their country, their family, and also their friends, Gratefully we raise a glass For all that they have given.

White hair, thin skin hands; I wear my poppy for them. I watch them shuffle And think of how strong they were, Back in their sharp uniforms.

Milky bay mimics A sky leached of all color, Waves a dull shimmer. The only sounds are the cries Of sea birds and lapping waves.

Banded dawn today Coral and blue, hints of rain. Is it just a tease or will clouds stay and bless us with even a little rain?

Beyond the garden Merchants roast their salt grilled fish Upon dirty coals. Does that wind-blown kitchen smoke presage the burning salt fires?
(We head to the beach tomorrow. Yay!)
