I have secured our land through the group that we camped with last year, household Aquanis, and have reserved for 6 people so we should be good. I am planning to be out on Thursday at this point, if anything changes I will let everyone know.
Lash-dono, I'm all for us each bringing a bottle this year, I have a bottle sitting in the kitchen that I'm dieing to share. ;D

Though I won't be there, and he won't be camping with you all in Rising Sun, Baron Vail is coming out as usual for Estrella, and bringing a lady, Jorunn (not an item, though, I believe!). I don't know anyone else at this point going there from Japan, I could be wrong.
Yes, they are both Japanese. Get out there and practice your honorifics! "Bairu-dono, hajimemashite! Watashi wa (name) desu. Dozou yoroshiku."
Though if you wish to have cute lady-like sounds, drop the W from Watashi. " 'atashi wa (name) desu." Girl-language style is a definite thing here, and it's a nice addition. Don't forget the high-pitch tone of voice, all girly and cute. Boys need not subscribe to this, and sounding gruff when talking the manly talk is typical. Girls don't use the girly voice with each other either.
Jorunn speaks English MUCH better than Vail. Drag her along to a western arts class if possible, she doesn't really need a Japanese persona and likes Western European style. Too bad, really, she's got the long hair you need for Heian.

Noble Cousins!
Greetings from Solveig! Watakushi is modern Japanese. If you want to sound like a jidaigeki and somewhat pretentious call yourself "sessha" and call the other person "kikou".

Since I wasn't expecting Baron Vail and Jorunn to speak ancient Japanese, and they might get a little confused (esp. with Western accents), let's just keep it simple, civil and modern, shall we?

You can do that, certainly. Speak English, too. I tend to speak in a more deliberate manner with Vail, so he catches everything, but in my opinion his listening is better than his speaking, though it's quite sufficient! He's goes to the states every year a few times after all!
Don't be tongue-tied, now. Consider - your Japanese wear is better than his. He doesn't have any!

It looks as though we have been able to get our land through "House Aquinas" again this year. It seams that there is a lot of concern for getting as many preregistered this year so they have extended the date to do so to Jan 25th. Remember that you save $20 if get it in by then.
I'm not sure if we are going to get a map this year before we show because there seems to be some heavy scrambling going on shoring up the final details for the war, but we should be near where we were last year. If I hear anything different I will let everyone know.
I'm looking forward to showing off the baby to everyone when I get there. ;D

Shall we shoot for our traditional Thursday evening celebration of the Lunar New Year? I've already got some sake earmarked for the purpose and will make a market run for some treats soon.
(I also acquired a metric buttload of natural muslin for jinmaku. They will be very plain but functional.)

He's goes to the states every year a few times after all! What she said. I've met Baron Vail several times and we manage to make ourselves understood just fine. There was another gentleman from Far West at Great Western War in gorgeous Japanese kit (whose name I sadly do not know!) who made a point of coming over while Katayama-dono and I were messing around with the taiko and complimented us.

Thursday sounds great as usual.
A reminder to everyone that because I'm only coming out Thursday to Sunday morning, I'm not planning on bringing the gate out this year, by the time I got it up on Thursday I would miss fighting and if I had to tear it down on Sunday I would also miss any chance of fighting that day as well. So this year I'm packing light, if I can't fit it into my Focus then it ain't coming (of course I can fit a lot of stuff in my focus, just not a big ass gate). I'm still bringing the big ass grill and some lantern hooks, I think I can bring the fire pit (fitting the big propane bottle will be the kicker) and I'll try and bring the storage tent, kitchen, and extra chairs.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Yagyu-dono, please don't feel you have to pack a sink unless you really want it along. I have a wooden folding table and a couple of dishpans. I also have that pop-up trash hamper thing, and the 5 gallon water jug with the spigot.
For anyone else arriving Wednesday (Ujimoto-dono?), I will have a small two burner propane stove, dishpans and a small folding table to work on as well as a charcoal grill, so it won't be a completely cold camp. If we don't want to cook, there's the food court, but we can definitely have tea and oatmeal going for Thursday AM.
Should I bring soup fixin's for dinner one night? (I can leave out the mushrooms this time.)

Makiwara-danae if antone needs extra tables chairs or cooking utensils let me know. I think we're good, but thank you for the kind offer. As I do not have a garage, most of my camp gear lives in my pick-up, kitchen set-up included. Since no one has said yea or nay, I will plan to make soup for whoevever wants a bowl on Saturday Night. Traditionally it's an Asian take on chicken noodle, with chunks of chicken, daikon, green onions and soba noodles. (Now that I know Yagyu-dono doesn't care for them, I shall omit mushrooms.) Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Just to let everyone know...
I am on site. Rising sun is setup on the eastern end of Calontarf road in the Atenveldt lands. Not that far from where we were last year.
Right now we have a blue dome and red cabin tents setup.
Yagyu, Saionji, if you need anything feel free to contact me 505-506-6999
