I am disgustingly excited about this project. It's looking REALLY good.

Got the bulk of lacing done on the dô. This is the worst of it. The odoshi angle in towards the center, on the lower lames. Particularly bad on the bottom lame, which fortunately will be covered by the obi. The back is fine, the sugake line up much better. I should probably redo the front, but at this point I'd rather keep moving ahead. I'm sure in the next year or so, I'll be making another dô, improving on this one. For instance I'd like more of the suspensory lace to show. Also did some fine tuning on the kanagu mawari. Though I think I've got to trim down the wakiita just a bit more. I'm waffling on whether or not to use egawa on the dô. Front plain Front with egawa Back plain Back with egawa I'm planning on attaching the muniata and oshitsuke no ita with cross laces of the mimi ito and the wakiita with kebiki of the white I've used for hishinui on the dangly bits. I've seen plenty of examples of nuinobe dô in this shade of lacquer, even with close to this color of odoshi, with no egawa, and I really like them. Plus I could then save my egawa for my next dô. Then again, looking at the photos, the egawa definitely adds to the Nihonese flavor, and I could always do an even better job on the egawa for the next dô...

You suck. And use the egawa. It will add to the suckage.

Fukurin and egawa added to kanagu mawari, and kanagu mawari added to nagagawa. The astute will notice that the back section desperately needs the tomegawa tightened up and the knots superglued. Also the wakiita need their top cords added. And I'm not quite done with my kohaze. Still, I think I should be fighting in this, the next time I can make a practice (nearest one is at least an hour away on Thurs. nights,)

Dô is pretty much done. Takahimo for sode aren't final, as I am still finishing up those kohaze. It's being worn over a kendo uniform, which I will work on replacing once I've finished kote and suneate. Using a bathrobe belt in this pic, until I make some obis.

It looks like you need to tie the do tighter. Also have it pulled up higher, its sagging a little too much. Although it looks cool so far.

Did you make Kohaze from the sode to the watagami. (shoulder guards to the shoulder strap)If you didnt, I was thinking of not making the pieces of kohaze for the sode. (They are terribly small to make out them in my metal shop) Does it pose any hassle without them?

Until the kote are finished, I'm just tieing the sode on with parachute cord.
